The Mountain Collective destinations have received a fairly equal storm track over the past week.

Squaw Alpine has picked up 18 inches since last week's update but the big winners have been the destinations down the spine of the Rockies. Grand Targhee leads the pack with 26 inches, along with 20 inches at Big Sky, 20 inches at Snowmass, and 17 inches at Taos.

Here was the scene at Big Sky on Monday, March 21 after receiving 20 inches in four days.

Big Sky is one of my favorite destinations so I'm always excited to see this area do well. Click HERE to read a trip report that I wrote for Big Sky back in January of 2018.

Moving onto the forecast, the storm train will continue to focus on areas down the spine of the Rockies, including Revelstoke and Banff Lake Louise in Canada.

On Thursday (3/25) and Friday (3/26), look for deep totals at Taos in New Mexico as the latest storm exits and another enters the southwest. This would be my choice for the best turns through the upcoming weekend.

But as I mentioned above, many areas will receive the goods as a consistent track of storms lines up through the weekend. Arapahoe Basin, along with Aspen Snowmass in Colorado, should do well through Friday. Snow totals will likely be lighter but upside surprises could also be in-store for Jackson/Targhee and Alta/Snowbird.

Extended Forecast

Looking ahead to the final days of March, we are tracking a storm for Monday through Wednesday down the spine of the Rockies.

Snow could start as early as Monday morning for Montana/Wyoming and continue through Wednesday night for Colorado. Much colder temps could also be in play so keep it locked to OpenSnow as we close out the month of March.

There are then hints in the longer-range models that the storm track will shift to favor California during the week of April 4. Keep an eye on the Squaw Alpine and Mammoth Daily Snows for more details as we get closer.

Thanks for reading! Next update on Wednesday, March 31.
