A cloudy, mild start to today as clouds from the past system move out of the region. Yesterday’s storm brought plenty of rain and sleet to the slopes. There was that additional shot of snow toward the end, but for the most part, it was a slushy early season day on the slopes. Have no fear though. The higher elevations did get below freezing last night, so resorts with the ability to produce artificial snow were able to gain some of that snowpack back. There is also snow already dropping on the slopes. Check out Killington’s webcam here for some current conditions on the slopes:

A weak upper-level disturbance will cross over New England today. This will produce light snow showers across VT, and NH. These snow accumulations will be on the lighter side. Expect accumulations in the Greens between 1-3” and 1-2” in the Whites. If you’re heading out today, any open resorts in VT would be an excellent choice. There won’t be a ton of snow falling, but it will stick to the slopes and provide fresh powdery conditions. Here is a look at the current radar, and forecast for today:

Snow will taper off as the disturbance lifts out of the region tonight. Clear conditions return during the day tomorrow. Northerly flow will pump cooler temperatures into the higher elevations. Winds will be moderate between 10-20 mph. Overall it's going to be a clear mid-November day on the slopes. If you’re not able to get out today, tomorrow is another great choice.

A strong low-pressure system will travel across New England during the day on Friday. The associated cold front will swing through the region, and bring a round of mixed precipitation with it. These showers, albeit brief, will bring mostly snow to the peaks. However, expect sleet/rain mixed in at times. Expect 1-2” of wintry mix once the front passes.> 

The biggest part of this storm to watch for is the upsloping snow showers after the storm passes. Northwesterly flow will dominate the region as the low moves north. That wind pattern, coupled with favorable mid atmospheric conditions, will likely produce measurable upsloping snow. Expect locations in the northern Greens (Jay Peak) and Whites to pick up an additional 3-4”

The weekend opens to cold, clear, and breezy conditions on Saturday. If you’re able to head out on Saturday, it’s going to be a great day to hit the slopes after all that upsloping snowfalls. Sunday looks to bring another Nor’easter to New England. Similar to the one yesterday, precipitation type and timing is unclear. The first model indications are that this storm will bring snow to the northern peaks, and rain to the southern ones. Check back over the next few days as details become more clear on the storm.
