Last Weekend

Good morning everyone. This will be our last post of the season. It has been an absolute pleasure sharing my weather geekiness with all the readers, I hope that our blogs this season were helpful and informative  (although I wish we had more snow to report to you guys this season). So let’s get to it. Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Sugarbush, Jay Peak, and Killington are all open for this weekend. All of these mountains with the exception of Killington plan on closing this weekend (Killington may also). So this could actually be the the last weekend to get some runs in before next season!

Today

We’re off to a beautiful sunny start here in Plymouth, NH. The current temperature is about 41 degrees, but the presence of high pressure will allow the sunshine to warm temperatures into the upper 50’s-low 60’s today. Most of the trails at the remaining mountains still have some corn to shred on. So if you plan on getting some final runs in,  it will be a beautiful day to do so.

Tomorrow

Mother nature may not allow the season to go past today. A low pressure system is expected to make its presence felt in the region as early as tomorrow afternoon. Widespread rain is expected to occur throughout New England. Rainfall will be significant enough to ruin any plans you have for skiing/riding one last day.  If you do decide to head to the mountain, expect some rain showers some time after-noon.

Next Week

As of now, it is unclear whether or not Killington will be open next week. If they are, they’re going to have a tough time finding days for spring riders to enjoy. Sunday’s rain is expected to continue into Monday night, which will melt a significant amount of snow before the weather conditions are dry enough to ride/ski again. If Killington is able to sustain good coverage into next week, Tuesday will be the best day at the mountain, as it is the only day that rainfall is not expected.Tuesday will consist of partly cloud skies with low temperatures in the 40’s and high temperatures in the low 60’s.

After Tuesday, there is a likelihood of showers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So if you want to get in one last day at the mountain, I think today would be the best day to do so.  After that, the conditions aren't looking to favorable. That’s all I have to share for today. For those of you who plan on skiing in May, enjoy what’s left of the snow before next season. Have a fantastic summer, and let’s all hope mother nature has more snow for us next winter. Cheers!
