Better quality Friday & Saturday with cooling

Summary

A new storm is in progress today with a rain-snow mix on the slopes. The snow level will rise into some of the upper slopes later today into tonight, then drop on Friday to the lower slopes. Saturday will see a calm before the next storm. More storms are headed our way for the next week, but we must watch snow levels.

Short Term Forecast

Much more snow will fall on the upper slopes today and again on Sunday. The one issue, which disturbs me, is the occasional high snow levels. The high snow levels will mean a rain-snow will be seen at on the mid to upper slopes and is caused by the warm sector of each storm. That said we would see additional snowfall as the snow level drops with the cold sector of the storm by Friday. Expect 1-2 ft of new snow Thursday to Friday, with improving conditions Friday as the snow level lowers, but snowfall rates taper off. The heaviest snowfall will be from the central Washington Cascades northward to BC.

Extended Forecast

A quick moving ridge of high pressure will move in on Saturday for a break in the action and even a possibility of sun breaks.  By Sunday a new system will move in with a 4,500 snow level and 6-12” of new snow into Monday.

There will be snow showers on Monday and a fine day on the slopes. Another system moves in with moderately high snow levels on next Tuesday, that may be a concern.
