Snowfall increases, then sunshine
Summary
Get ready for some deep powder skiing in the central and north Cascades (Stevens and Baker). Two storms will combine to cause increasing snowfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. The snow level will be low (2,000 ft) on Tuesday with 2-5” of snow. The snow will continue overnight into Wednesday, but the snow level will rise.
Short Term Forecast
Snowfall will be on the increase late Tuesday night. On Wednesday expect the snow level to be about 4,500 – 5,000 ft with the snowfall continuing (4 – 10”). There will be a rain snow mix at the bases to mid-mountain, but all snow on the upper slopes. The snow will taper off late Wednesday into Thursday while the snow level drops to 4,000 ft. Expect partly sunny skies on Thursday. Expect to ski in the snow on Wednesday.
Extended Forecast
By Friday and through the weekend higher pressure will build in and we’ll see partly sunny skies. There may be a dusting on Sunday, but overall a dry weather pattern will prevail. The dry weather may persist through part of next week.
