First significant snowfall

Summary

This is it. A vigorous storm is headed in from the NW for Friday. The system will bring heavy snow and eventually lowering snow levels.

Short Term Forecast

Expect lots of snow Friday into Saturday morning with a cold early season storm. Initially, the snow level may rise a tad to 4,000 feet (mid-lower slopes), then drop by Saturday morning to 2,500 ft ( snow for all slopes). The snowfall will be impressive for October ( 5-12 plus inches). The views of the snow-capped mountains from the lowlands by Saturday and Sunday will increase the excitement. There will be clearing over the rest of the weekend.

Extended Forecast

High pressure will build in next week to block any new storms. The first part of the week will be chilly, but gradually moderate. There is a chance of a new storm late in the week, but possibly with higher snow levels.
