Rain on snow, some hope by Friday
Summary
High snow levels will continue with a warm moist southwesterly flow of air from the tropics. There will be a break Wednesday, with a lull between storms. Another mild system will move in Thursday, with more rain on snow. Expect cooler weather on Friday with lowering snow levels.
Short Term Forecast
It’s been rather ugly with snow levels as high as 8,000 ft and that means rain on snow for all. The break on Wednesday will mean, not as bad as Tuesday. But the snow level only goes down a bit Wednesday and Thursday (6000 ft) Friday should see cooler weather (SL 4,000ft) with a return to snowfall on the mid and upper slopes, for some recovery and back to skiable conditions.
Extended Forecast
The weekend will see a mixed bag. A new system, on Sunday ,will finally bring in cooler weather with snowfall on most middle and upper slopes with a rain/snow mix on the lower slopes. There is a chance of 4-12” of new snow Sunday and Monday.
