Update

Surprise, surprise!

The snow started falling on Sunday afternoon and the summit snow stake camera shows about 12 inches at 400 am. I did not think we would see this 'extra' snow due to a wind forecasted to blow from the northwest, but the actual wind direction is from the west based on the weather station at the top of Steamboat, and a wind from the west is the best direction. Enjoy the fluffy powder on Monday morning and we should get a few additional inches through noon.

Tuesday and Wednesday should be on the drier side with just a few snow showers roaming around.

Then from later Thursday through later Friday, a storm with lots of moisture and warm temperatures should hit Colorado. The warm temperatures may allow for rain to fall on a lot of the mountain, and near the summit, we could see 3-6 inches of snow.

We should see a break in the precipitation sometime over the weekend, then another storm or two should bring chances for snow from later in the weekend through early next week, and these storms should be colder with snow down to the base.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
