Update

On Thursday, light-to-moderate snow continued through the day with a few inches of accumulation, and a bit of snow fell on Thursday night as well. Every flake helps to keep conditions soft even if the total amount of new snow is not deep.

Friday should be a mostly cloudy and mostly dry day as we await our next storm.

Our next chance for snow will be an overnight special with snow starting on Friday around sunset and continuing through Saturday morning. Most forecasts fall in the range of 1-4 inches through with a little luck perhaps we could see a bit more snow than that. On radar, the storm looks healthy as it heads toward Colorado from the west on Friday morning, so I would hope that we see a nice little refresh and soft turns on Saturday morning.

Saturday afternoon through Sunday should be dry with a mix of sunshine, clouds, and maybe a few light snow showers.

Then I see four chances for snow during the following seven days. These storms should hit on or around:

* Monday, January 27th
* Wednesday, January 29th
* Friday, January 31st
* Monday, February 3rd to Tuesday, February 4th

Each storm should favor the northern mountains, which is good news for us. Also, each storm looks like it’ll be of weak-to-moderate strength, so I can’t sound the alarm for big powder days as of yet. But as we saw this week, frequent storms and consistent snowfall brings great conditions and the chance for a high-side surprise, so I welcome this forecast.

Looking far ahead, we may see a drier period after the storm around February 3-4th as high-pressure nudges in. But the long-range models continue to show a stormy set up starting around February 10th. That’s 17 days away, so there’s a low probability that the details work out as forecast, but I at least wanted to mention what I’m seeing to keep the stoke alive.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
