Best chance of snow Friday into the weekend at Steamboat

Summary

On Wednesday night, we could see some snow, but the higher chance for snow will be from later Friday into Saturday and perhaps through Sunday.

Short Term Forecast

Tuesday was a mostly sunny and gorgeous day with a period of clouds that moved in during the early evening.

Today on Wednesday will also start with sunny skies, and then we’ll see more clouds cover the sky later in the day.

On Wednesday night, a storm will bring the most snow to eastern Colorado and an unfavorable wind from the east to our mountain. It’s possible that we could see a few flakes and light accumulations, but I am keeping my expectations low because an east wind usually delivers little to no snowfall (the best wind direction is from the west and west-northwest).

Thursday should be a dry and sunny day with temperatures in the teens to low 20s.

Extended Forecast

I wish I could provide more details about the storm from Friday, February 26 to Monday, March 1.

All I can say right now is that our best chance for snow should be between Friday afternoon and Saturday night and accumulations should be at least a few inches and perhaps 6+ inches if a few of the pieces of this storm come together perfectly.

My recommendation is to target Saturday, February 27 as the day when there could be the softest snow, but, please keep your expectations low until we have more confidence in the forecast.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
