Opening Day (Saturday)

Summary

The mountain opens today on Saturday. Weatherwise, chances for snow are very, very low for the next 10 days.

Update

On Friday, the base area cam caught the mountain operations team making final preparations to open by smoothing out the mounds of machine-made snow that were produced during the last few days.

On Saturday (Nov 27), the mountain opens for the season with (I think) one lift and a handful of trails.

Weatherwise, we are stuck in a rut with no major storms and little if any snow coming during the next 10 days. Each day, temperatures will top out between the mid-30s to mid-40s and maybe drop low enough at night for limited snowmaking. Our only chance at a few flakes of natural snow will be on Nov 30 and Dec 3-5 though most (or all) of the storm energy should stay north and east of Colorado.

There is a slightly higher chance that we'll see snow during the week of December 6-10, but that's 10+ days away and too far out to have any confidence in the details of the forecast.

We can be thankful that there is at least some terrain open at the moment, but there's no sugarcoating it – we need snow!

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
