Another Cool Down As the Cool Summer Continues...
Update
It has been an oddly nice summer so far. We continue to see trough pushing into the West Coast bringing shots of cooler air. The next one is currently pushing in.
That will bring a chance for thunderstorms Thursday and Friday, and is already cooling high temperatures down into the 70's. After wind gusts from the southwest are also expected to be stronger through Saturday, gusting up to 30 mph on the lake. OpenSummit.com or the app is a great place to track the hourly wind forecasts.
For Saturday we may only have highs in the 60's and overnight lows in the 30's! That will give Tahoe a feeling of Fall weather Sunday morning.
Starting Sunday high pressure is expected to build back in with tranquil and warming weather.
We should see lighter winds, lots of sun, and highs warming back into the upper 70's to near 80 into early next week.
There are signs that yet another cool trough could push into CA later next week. Continuing the trend of our cool summer.
The only precipitation in the 1-week forecast is for Thursday & Friday with thunderstorms, and then it should be dry through next Thursday.
The summer so far has been cool for CA. Most of the heat has been in the Northeast, and especially Alaska where high pressure has been stuck with record warm temperatures occurring.
The lack of heat and thunderstorms may be helping to keep the number of wildfires low so far. It has not only been cool in Tahoe this summer, but also smoke free. We still have a lot of fire season to go with dry conditions, so things could change, but for now only 1 significant wildfire in Northern CA over 100 acres.
Enjoy the beautiful summer weather around the lake. It won't last forever, Winter is just around the corner!
Stay tuned...BA
