Here Comes Summer & We Have Radar!

Update

We have been going through a see-saw of temperatures with cool systems that have been bringing some cooler air, clouds, & gusty winds through the area. Mainly on the weekends... That is going to change later this week with a nice summer weekend finally in the forecast!

We have some cooler air, gusty winds, and some clouds still around to start this week as a system is spinning over the Pacific NW.

Satellite

The winds will start to die down Tuesday into Wednesday but the cooler air sticks around. Highs only in the 60s at lake level and 50s up on the mountains. Thursday through the weekend high pressure builds in with temperatures warming into the 70s by the end of the week, and 80s for the weekend with lots of sun!

Summer solstice and the longest day of the year will be on Saturday. It will be nice to finally have a warm weekend and without gusty winds. The forecast should stay warm and dry into early next week.

Long-Range:

We may see a weak system move through CA later next week. It should stay warm but we could see a chance for afternoon thunderstorms to pop up over the mountains if the system moves through and adds some moisture to the atmosphere.

We Have Radar & Snow Depth Maps!

We have been working hard this Spring to add more features to our summer mountain activity forecast site OpenSummit. Last week we launched our new snow cover and radar map overlay features.

These are All-Access features which are only $19 per year and includes All-Access to OpenSnow as well. We will be adding more features and bringing these maps to the app versions as well this Summer, and we will be bringing similar features and more to OpenSnow for the upcoming season!

Upgrade to All-Access

I will also continue to post forecast summaries weekly through the Summer and will start to look at next season as we get later into the Summer. Right now we are watching the possibility of a weak La Nina pattern for next season.

We will look at that and more patterns, and look at how they could affect the snowfall patterns for next season. (I will also have more stories as the family continues our goal of hiking all of the National Parks)

Stay tuned...BA

P.S. If you are looking for graphs on the snowfall totals for this past season, I posted them in the last article which you can access below by clicking "Previous Daily Snow".
