Sunny skies expected through the week. Temperatures warming for the 2nd half of the week. Then a slight cooldown for the weekend with an outside chance for an afternoon shower.

Winds look to remain pretty light through Thursday and then maybe picking up a little later Friday. You can always get your peak temperatures forecasts and your hourly lake and mountain wind forecasts for boating and hiking on the OpenSummit app.

The Weekend:

Expecting a weak trough with a slight cooldown for the weekend. Highs dropping back into the 50s & 60s. There could be enough moisture for a few afternoon showers to pop up in spots. Here is a look at the total precipitation forecast through Sunday on the GFS ensemble mean model.

Long-Range:

I will continue to post weekly updates on Mondays throughout the summer. There are signs that we could see a few more troughs week 2. That could keep us on the cooler side next week with more chances for afternoon showers to pop up.

We will need any moisture that we can get this summer. CA has quickly fallen into severe and extreme drought conditions across most of the state over the past month. Not good for the summer fire situation.

Be sure to be using OpenSummit for your summer mountain weather. We are adding more features. It is especially helpful with the colder temperatures and stronger winds normally seen when hiking the peaks...
