Ho-Hum...

Summary

Mostly sunny and dry is the forecast for at least the next week. No signs of storms for now, but we'll keep watching...

Short Term Forecast

Posting a little late today. I, like many of you, was distracted by the strong hurricane ravaging Florida. Prayers and well wishes for the residents that are now faced with the aftermath and recovery from the storm.

Outside of some moisture in the northern Rockies Thursday into Friday, we have high pressure pretty much dominating the West over the next week.

ridge

That will bring slightly above average high temperatures in the 70s at lake level and 60s on the mountains just above.

warm

No signs of any moisture for at least a week through next Friday the 7th of October.

precip

Can you believe it's October already this weekend?! We had big snow at the end of last October, so it may not be long until the snow flies!

Extended Forecast

The long-range models have been showing a trough trying to dig in along the West Coast week 2.

trough

The latest model runs keep the trough off the coast. We will keep an eye on the forecast. If it pushes farther inland we could see some cooler air and maybe a system with some showers the week of the 10th. But for now, the long-range models agree that we will see a dry pattern or below-average precipitation over the next 2 weeks.

dry

We will continue to watch the pattern to see when/if it will become active later in October. We are going through the changing of the seasons where the chances of seeing storms continue to increase through the fall.

Stay tuned...BA
