Summary:
Periods of off-and-on snow will continue through Sunday. Total accumulations through Sunday will be upwards of 12+ inches. Even though there isn't one distinct powder day that I can point too, continued showers will create great conditions on the hills.
Details:
Jackson Hole is reporting 3 inches on Wednesday morning, while Grand Targhee comes in with 2 inches over the past 24 hours. Great to see both areas falling into the original forecast of 1-3 inches that we sent out yesterday morning.
Wednesday - Thursday: Light off-and-on showers will continue on Wednesday as we remain under a moisture-laden southwesterly flow. Total accumulations through Wednesday evening will be about an inch, at best, for all areas. Then come Wednesday night through Thursday, our next shot at decent accumulations will enter the Teton Range. Slightly cooler temperatures, moisture-laden southwest to west-southwest flow, and decent dynamics (energy) will stream across the region. We are not anticipating any one period of heavy snow but light to moderate snow over 24-36 hours should make for some fun. 3-6 inches will be the forecast by early Friday morning.
Friday - Sunday: Flurries to light snow showers will then continue on Friday and through most of the weekend. We could see another shot at decent accumulations on Saturday but I have low confidence at this time. Another thing to watch this weekend will be much colder temperatures by Sunday. A very cold arctic airmass will swing south into the Upper Midwest next week and we should catch the western edge on Sunday and into Monday. Overall, Sunday could be another fun time to get out before drier weather prevails by Sunday evening.

Next Week: We will then be mostly dry next week as the bulk of the action stays to our south and west. We could see a few light flurries at times but that's really it. As I mentioned in late-December, the Tetons are not favored in an El Nino pattern during January so we should be very excited about consistent snow over the next 5 days and go from there.
Thanks for reading and check back here on Thursday morning for the latest update!
