With the season quickly winding down and the snow slowly starting to melt, winter isn’t completely over yet with two storms on track for this week and next weekend.

Unfortunately, it’s looking more like both lows will keep a southerly track and stay south of our region. The first low that moves through the area tonight and Tuesday will bring snowfall to mostly locations west of I-35 and south of I-90, with a few inches in western MN and only a dusting in eastern MN and WI.

Ridging then takes over until Friday morning, with clear skies for Wednesday and Thursday and temperatures reaching up into the 40s for much of the region. This all proceeds our next storm system that the models have been having a hard time tackling for Friday through the weekend.

Right now it looks to still take a southerly track, very similar to tomorrow’s low, but overall trough looks to be slightly deeper, but less organized, allowing more moisture to dig further north over the weekend. However, this lack of organization also means that warmer temperatures in the atmosphere will stick around, leading to more mixed precipitation than all snow. I’m going to wait until it gets closer to pin down snow totals for the weekend, but anything over maybe an inch or two on Friday and Saturday nights would be shocking unless the storm swings way colder this week.
