Powder through Monday, active next week as well

Summary

This weekend will bring powder to the northeast as well as California, Utah, and Colorado. And the fun won’t end there as storms should continue in the western US through next week.

Short Term Forecast

The Forecast for Thursday 3/21 – Monday 3/25

The calendar says that spring has sprung, but powder continues to fall (as is usual for March) so stay motivated to get out there and enjoy the new snow!

In the northeast, a powerful Nor’ Easter will bring snow and strong winds on Friday and Saturday. Expect 10-20 inches of snow at the higher-elevation mountains that are furthest to the north and west. Friday should get deeper through the day, and Saturday could be the deepest, though strong winds on Saturday might slow or close some lifts, preserving some powder for Sunday.

Over the central western United States, two storms will bring moderate snow amounts to California, Utah, and Colorado through the weekend and into Monday. While no one day’s snow totals might be super deep, the cumulative effect of multiple days of snow could add up to fun powder.

The Forecast Tuesday 3/26 – Wednesday 3/27

Following the active weather over the weekend and into Monday, March 25, it looks like the atmosphere will take a bit of a breather. But you can see that the next storm is already trying to push onto the west coast by Wednesday, March 27, and that’s a harbinger of things to come.

Extended Forecast

The Outlook for Thursday 3/28 – Monday 4/1

As we head into the end of March and early April, it appears that the storm train will keep rolling for California, Utah, and Colorado, and perhaps other areas of the western United States.

Digging into the details a bit, a storm will likely traverse the west from Wednesday, March 27 through Friday, March 29.

After that, it’s too far out to know specifics, but the outlook map below looks good!

Thanks for reading and look for the next forecast on Monday, March 25.
