End April with a Storm, start May with another...

Update

Yesterday's storm moved through and brought a solid morning of valley rain (changing to snow) and mountain snowfall.  Total accumulation at Snowbird was 8".  Looks like 7" fell based on automated readings from the top of Solitude.  Other Wasatch locations generally in the 4-8" range.  Not a huge storm, but not bad for the last day of April.  Snowbird definitely held some goods yesterday!

If you missed it and are yearning for some last fresh turns, you may have another shot.  A system will spin into Southern Utah later today and by tonight and tomorrow, it will rotate moisture in Northern Utah as well.  Statewide, we should see accumulating snowfall above 7,500 feet or so.  It's a bit unusual of a storm for the Wasatch as the general flow will be out of the south, then the east.  Could favor the Wasatch Back and shadow out the Wasatch Front.  Latest 12km NAM forecast for the Upper Cottonwoods showing the following:

If this is true, then we could have 6" or so by opening tomorrow with additional snow throughout the day.  In general, I'm less trusting of storms this late in the season, especially when they have a unique setup like this.  Never trust a cut-off low!

If you're wondering if it's worth it to get out tomorrow morning, I'd say you should be ready, wake up early, check webcams and radar... then make the decision. That's my plan at least.

Cheers!
