I'm taking a day off from skiing... Well, I might go for an afternoon tour... But my body and mind need a rest after 5 straight days of powder that culminated in yesterday's epic day:

One of the best days on snow I've ever had... This is what 5 FEET of powder is like!

Absolutely amazing day! Still smiling from that.... Also smiling looking at the upcoming forecast...

We are looking at a break today into early tomorrow but an initial system will push into the area late in the day on Saturday into Saturday night.  This was looking weak yesterday but it's looking a bit better today.  At this point I think 3-6" by Sunday morning is a safe bet, but if the latest trends verify, we could see more, especially in the Cottonwoods.  

The second storm then moves in right on its heals late on Sunday into Sunday night.  This wave looks stronger and another 6-12+" could be possible for Monday morning.  Still thinking Monday is the safest bet for powder in the next few days.  

Both of these systems are now within range of the 12km NAM: 

Notice two good bumps on Saturday and Sunday nights for these two storms. 

If all the new snow we had earlier this week and the upcoming snow we have in the short-term wasn't enough, then you'll be happy to know that the extended forecast looks to continue the snowy pattern. 

Another system will impact the region late Tuesday into Wednesday (12-13th)... It looks like a weakish system, but another few inches on top of already soft snow will be nice.  Here is the total GFS snowfall thru Wednesday the 13th: 

Then, as we head into next weekend (16-17th), we may see a stronger storm that taps into some sub-tropical moisture.  We are a long way out, but the GFS has as setup that could potentially deliver a lot of snowfall. Here is the latest GFS thru the 17th of February: 

So to sum up, a lot of snow could be in the queue for the next 10 days. If you are wondering, this is falling on an above average snowpack statewide! 

Keep those skis/boards at the ready and rest up your legs for more powder!
