Thursday Afternoon Update

Update

Showers are increasing across the area this afternoon in advance of the first in a series of cold, very late season storms.  Snow levels into this evening will be very high but will crash down on Friday morning as the cold front pushes thru.  We should see showers throughout the day Friday into Friday night with the snow level at or below 7000 feet.

As for accumulation, the latest NAM was fairly optimistic, portraying up to 15" of new snow for the Upper Cottonwoods:

Right now, Friday could be a decent storm day with snow showers throughout the day. However, the better powder day could be Saturday morning.

We will have a break Saturday thru early Sunday before the next system moves in Sunday afternoon thru Sunday night and into Monday.  Additional high elevation accumulations are likely.  Another storm or two is then possible middle to late next week.  Welcome to late May in the Wasatch!
