A few more to go...
Summary
Another round of snow today, then another tomorrow, then one final round on Thursday night into Friday. Solid additional accumulations likely.
Short Term Forecast
Yesterday was mind-blowingly good if you were able to make it up to the resorts! Of course, with all the recent snow and falling on a weekend, traffic was a problem for many. To make matters worse, even after all that control work, an avalanche still came down and crossed the road in LCC and closed the road for a couple hours. It wasn't the best powder day of my life, but I did have the single best powder run of my life.
Here are the totals we've already seen from this storm cycle:
Now I am sitting in bed watching it snow outside, trying to summon the energy for another powder day. Yes! We've got yet another storm moving thru. This storm is nothing too impressive -- if it were on it's own I would call it a quick-hitting storm with just modest totals. But today, these modest totals will be on top of already big totals over the past 5 days, so conditions will get very good, very fast today. I'm expecting a general 4-8" for most resorts today, although some areas could pick up higher totals such as the Cottonwoods with 6-12".
Tomorrow, yet another system arrives in the morning bringing snow thru the afternoon and into Tuesday evening. Another 6-12" is possible with the highest totals farther north up toward Beaver Mountain. Here is a look at the total snow from the next two systems:
Notice it's the far north that gets hit the hardest. Lesser amounts as you head south.
Today - Period of heavy snow this morning with rapidly improving conditions
Tuesday - Snow developing with rapidly improving conditions. Last chair, best chair?
Wednesday - Lots of leftover powder
We then have a break thru Thursday. Next system arrives late Thursday night into Friday.
Extended Forecast
It does look like we may see an extended break in the active weather starting this weekend. We could thaw out for a week or two heading toward February.
