Utah Daily Snow
By Evan Thayer, Forecaster Posted 4 years ago January 14, 2020
Another Wave today, then one more storm Thursday night and Friday
Summary
Snow today as another generally weak wave pushes through. Highest totals are farther north. A break Wednesday and Thursday before one last system brings snow to the mountains on Thursday night and Friday.
Short Term Forecast
Yesterday's wave pushed through and generally dropped 4-11" of new snow with it. Snow then started again overnight up by the Idaho border. Beaver Mountain picked up 10" overnight and now has 17" in the past 24 hours. This system is favoring areas farther north and will weaken as it moves south today. Still, a period of snow is likely from the Cottonwoods/PC northward to the Idaho border. Heaviest snow in the SLC area will be in the afternoon. For most resorts, it's a last chair, best chair kind of day.
Here are updated totals for the cycle now:
We have a break Wednesday and Thursday before the final wave pushes in. Thursday will be windy and warm in SW flow ahead of system. Snow begins Thursday night and continues into Friday. Moderate totals in the Wasatch looking likely.
We then clear out again by Saturday.
Extended Forecast
It looks like high pressure takes control next week and we shouldn't have any major chances for snow for at least a week or so. Winter returns, instead, to the east coast.
