SNOW!

Summary

A storm is moving into Utah today bringing very cold temperatures and snow showers. We will see gradual warming and drying later this week. This dry, mild weather should carry us well into November as we await a more substantial pattern change.

Short Term Forecast

It's snowing! I am sitting here at my house, typing this with coffee in hand and snow falling outside the window. I can't tell you how much I'm loving it!

Still, as expected, this storm hasn't done much other than put down a dusting to maybe a couple inches. That should continue to be the case as it slowly works its way farther south today.

Cold temperatures tonight as we see temps in the mountains drop into single digits and teens with low 20s (or even colder) in the valleys. If you haven't winterized your sprinkler system, now is the time to do it!

We will gradually warm up this week as high pressure takes control.

Extended Forecast

While today's storm is a nice tease, it's not enough to really jumpstart winter in any meaningful way. We are still looking at a mostly dry pattern thru the rest of this month and well into November. Right now, the longest range models are hinting at change sometime around mid-November. We are going to have to hope things change quickly if some of the resorts with earlier opening dates are going meet those goals.

I'll be back with a more details long-range forecast in the coming days! Until then, enjoy our first taste of winter!
