Dry and Warmer Thru the Weekend

Summary

After the early week storm, we are now high and dry with warming temps under high pressure. This will continue through the weekend. Next chance for showers will be next week.

Short Term Forecast

Yesterday was awesome.

Our storm system brought 3-8" to most mountains of Northern Utah, which is close to what was expected. The Cottonwoods did a bit better with 6-10" in BCC. LCC was running behind yesterday early morning but the NW flow kicked in and it caught up quickly, as it so often does. LCC ended up with a foot or more of fresh snow and very few people on the mountain. I had some of the best turns of the season yesterday and am still smiling today. Here is a photo of me from yesterday's powder feast by my friend, Photo John (@photojohnphoto):

There may still be some pockets of fresh snow this morning, but alas, high pressure is back in control and we will see warm and dry weather thru the rest of this week into the weekend. Back to spring skiing!

Extended Forecast

Next week is the next chance for snow. The GFS has been the most aggressive model as far as precip potential in Utah. It cuts off a low and spins it overhead for much of next week, bringing showery precip to the region. The Euro and Canadian models keep most of the energy to our north and east and brush Utah with some weak energy. Either way, we should see some cooling and chances for light precip, but the GFS would be much more likely to bring appreciable mountain snowfall. We will continue to monitor over the coming days.
