Monday Storm Day

Summary

A break today before another storm moves in late tonight and last thru Monday, perhaps into Tuesday. Monday should be a storm day powder day with Tuesday offering plenty of fresh snow as well. A ridge of high pressure will bring quieter weather as we head into March.

Short Term Forecast

Yesterday's weak storm produced about as much snowfall in Northern Utah as we could have hoped for. 1-5" reported for most resorts with up to 9" for the northern Wasatch. Not a bad cherry on top.

Today (Sunday) is a break day as our next storm approaches. Snow will develop overnight in the north and slowly move south. Should snow in the Central Wasatch by sunrise. Snow should continue for much of the day on Monday. A good storm day that will get deeper as the day goes on. Then, snow showers will continue Monday night into Tuesday behind the main trough. I don't think this storm will be nearly as fruitful as our storm last week, but we still should see some halfway decent accumulations. Generally 6-12" with 10-15" for the Cottonwoods. Worth noting that storms keep overproducing this year, so we could get more with a bit of luck...

By Wednesday, a ridge will develop and high pressure will take control with warming and drying for at least the first 5 days of March.

Extended Forecast

The GFS wants to bring storms to the Pacific NW, bringing them far enough south for Northern Utah to get in on some of the action between March 5-10.  The Euro keeps this energy completely north of the area.  Either way, I don't expect major storms.  Something to watch...
