Big Powder week for Whistler - 2-3 feet!

Update

There is outstanding powder skiing potential at Whistler / Blackcomb this week.

This week will see continued unsettled weather with more snowfall. There will be some breaks in the storminess, but when the snow comes it will be heavy at times and continuous. Snow levels will rise a bit with the storm on Thursday, but no big deal. Late this week will see a break in the storminess with better visibility as you make your turns. This extended storm cycle continues on Sunday as a new storm  shows up with renewed powder skiing.

Below Whistler looking toward Blackcomb Seventh Heaven on Monday: waiting for a powder week

After the lifts close on Monday, the snowfall will pick up as a new storm rushes toward Whistler. I think we will see 10 plus inches overnight into Tuesday morning with a snow level near the Village and well below mid-station. There will be windy conditions in the alpine. Expect another 10 inches Tuesday, into Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, with a lowering snow level. Target Tuesday and Wednesday for great powder days.

A new storm blasts through Thursday, but brings in with slightly milder air and a bit of a snow level rise to above the Village for a time, but below mid-station. Despite that, the mid-mountain/ alpine will see mainly snow. Snowfall on Thursday could exceed 15”. The snow level will lower by noon on Thursday and snow will taper off early Friday with lowering snow levels. Both later Thursday and Friday have excellent powder skiing potential, to round out the week. So it looks like 2-3 feet plus for the week and significant new snow every day!

A break in the weather on Friday will continue on Saturday. By Sunday a new, but modest storm moves into W/B for a nice powder refresh.

What a week- there it is ---ski it!!
