New snow is on the way

Update

On Friday the ridge of high pressure blocking all the storms for Whistler, the last 12 days, and producing this recent extend dry spell will be breaking down.

A series of storm systems will be moving in Friday through next Wednesday. Initially the storms will be weak, producing light to moderate snowfall. However, by early next week, the storms will be more robust producing more snowfall, with the trade-off, a higher snow level.

Friday expect new snow falling with the snow level near the Village. Snowfall will be 2-6”. Nice quality, but in some cases just covering thin spots. Saturday will see more snowfall, with the snow level remaining low. The snow continues Sunday with a slight rise in snow levels (above the Village).

Early next week more snow will fall, with a snow level just below mid station. Mid mountain and especially Alpine has potential to get deep snow Monday - Wednesday. Models are unclear after that, but there has been a tendency for the high pressure to build back in for unknown duration. But at least we’ll get some new snow for now.
