NOAA's latest 'State of the Climate Report' has officially declared the 2018-2019 winter season (December - February) the wettest on record for the contiguous United States.

Here are the highlights from NOAA:

Precipitation

Total U.S. winter precipitation was 9.01 inches (2.22 inches above average), which made it the wettest winter on record, beating the winter of 1997-98 by 0.02 of an inch. 

Above-average precipitation was observed across all but five of the lower 48 states and no state ranked below-average for winter precipitation.

Temperature

Above-average winter temperatures were observed across much of the eastern half of the U.S. No state was record warm or record cold.
