Three inches of snow fell on Sunday night, and now there will be a lull in the snowfall during most of the day on Monday. But don't worry, because snow will return quickly as a strong cold front pushes through Vail on Monday evening. Look for heavy snow, winds gusting to 30-50mph, and possible road closures between about 6pm and midnight on Monday night, with about 5-8 inches of snow accumulation. 4:35pm Update: A fast approaching cold front, along with a screaming jet stream overhead, will combine to create near whiteout conditions from Vail to the Eisenhower Tunnel within the next few hours. Heavy snow and very gusty winds (30-50mph) will make travel extremely difficult, if not impossible, along the I-70 mountain corridor through Monday night.
