Mid-April Outlook
Summary
Following a windy week of weather, much calmer to round out the work week with chances for light weekend snow.
Short Term Forecast
Low pressure has been circulating over the Great Basin this week bringing strong gusty winds. It will weaken and remain to our north through the end of the week. Thursday (breezy +) and Friday will be cool and conditions will improve on the slopes on sunny aspects during the afternoon hours.
Over the weekend models are dropping some of the Great Basin storm energy into AZ. The GFS being stronger with the system than the EURO. I feel chances for light snow will be possible Saturday into Sunday, nothing overly exciting. Saturday day likely showery snow grains and pellets with a couple inches of real snow possible Saturday night. Leaving some tricky, variable conditions on Sunday with weird precipitation varieties coming down occasionally through the day, can't rule out lightning as well. It won't be the warm, spring conditions we've been enjoying.
Extended Forecast
Warm and quiet conditions return for the week of 4/19.
GFS is advertising a vigorous snow storm 12 days out (4/26 ish), like 2', hmmm. Something to keep an eye on, maybe one last event of the season.
