Saturday morning freshies, then the next storm arrives on Monday night

Summary

We saw snow showers on Friday and Friday night, and we'll enjoy untouched snow now on Saturday morning. Then Saturday to Monday will be dry and warm, with the next storm arriving on Monday night.

Update

Friday delivered just one inch of snow across the mountain. We expected more snow to fall east of the mountain and that's what happened.

Friday night brought additional snow through about midnight with 1-2 inches of accumulation.

Below is the mid-mountain snow stake which shows the 2-3 inches of snow that accumulated on Friday and Friday night.

Saturday will be a day to get out early and enjoy the little bit of soft and cold powder that fell on Friday night before the strong April sunshine turns the new snow to mush under mostly sunny skies and an afternoon high temperature in the 30s.

Sunday and Monday will also be mostly sunny and warm with an afternoon high temperature in the 30s. There is a chance that we could see more clouds and a few showers during these days, but for the most part, I expect dry weather and classic spring skiing conditions.

The next storm will bring snow from Monday afternoon to Wednesday night or Thursday morning. My initial estimate is for 8-16 inches of snow with possible powder on Tuesday, Wednesday, and maybe first thing on Thursday morning.

The longer-range forecast will trend toward warmer and drier weather starting around April 6 and continuing through April 14. While there could be a storm during this time, it looks like our stormy weather pattern will likely transition to a drier and calmer weather pattern. Then the next chance for a storm could be around April 15-16, but that's two weeks away so my confidence in the forecast is very, very low.
