2020/2021 Recap – Canada’s Longest Season
Updated 4 months ago Bob Ambrose
The 20/21 La Nina winter delivered just enough snow at just the right times to be considered a very good winter. Snowfall started in mid-October enabling Mt. Norquay to be the first resort to open in Canada on October 24th. The snowpack built slowly but steadily throughout the season bringing sibling resort Sunshine Village the distinction of being the very last resort to close in Canada (May 24).

That's a Wrap
Updated 4 months ago Lee Born
Closing weekend at Snowbowl is upon us. This week's storm delivered 7" of new snow to the ski area. Season total at Snowbowl 225", average 260", not too shabby considering the late start and it being a La Nina year.

August Snow Blankets Lone Mountain
Updated 3 weeks ago Bob Ambrose
Around 4 inches of snow fell at the summit station (11,166’) of Lone Mountain by Friday morning August 20th. A large low-pressure system swung out of B.C. that brought in a shot of cold air that dropped snow levels to around 8000’. It has been one of the hottest summers on record in Montana and this change of weather is extremely welcomed by all. Enjoy a few snowy shots from the summit below…

2020-2021 Season Recap
Updated 5 months ago Alan Smith
Most ski areas are closed for the season and high pressure will dominate the weather pattern for the foreseeable future, so I decided that now would be a good time to wrap up the winter forecasting season. Most regions of BC experienced an above-average winter in terms of snowpack, except for the southeast corner where snowpack has been below average.

Late-Season Update
Updated 4 months ago Powderchaser Steve
Just when I posted "final post" there were a few comments that said "I bet there's another one coming" and sure enough, they were right! It's hard to resist posting a powder alert when ingredients come together, late-season, for some good dumps. That is exactly what is going to happen.
Colorado
Storm update – cooler air early next week, not much snow
Updated 1 day ago Joel Gratz
We are watching a storm that will move through northern Colorado on Monday into Tuesday, September 20-21. The system will drop mountain temperatures to the 20s and 30s, but earlier forecasts for a decent amount of snow have backed off and now show very little snow, if any.

Stellar spring-skiing conditions to finish out the ski...
Updated 5 months ago Steve Stuebner
Sunny bluebird conditions with high temperatures in the 50s are forecast for the final weekend of the ski season in Idaho at Bogus Basin, Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass. A pesky little storm system Sunday afternoon at the two N. Idaho resorts may drop a tiny bit of rain after noon ... only a 20% chance. Snow levels will be at 6,500 feet. See more information on hours of operation below.

2020-2021 Season Recap
Updated 5 months ago Alan Smith
Snowfall at Jackson Hole was above average for the SIXTH season in a row, which is an incredible streak! Really it was a feast-or-famine type winter with a ridiculously snowy 6-week stretch but also some long dry spells. Unlike recent winters, snowpack depth peaked 6 weeks earlier than average this year and our snowpack is about 20% below average heading into spring runoff season.

2020/2021 Season Recap: The La Nina - Covid Winter
Updated 5 months ago Bob Ambrose
With Big Sky, Red Lodge, Lookout Pass and Great Divide set to conclude their winter operations this weekend, I thought I’d share some observations of this unique season from both sides of the Divide. Best news of all, every ski area from the mom and pops to the fancy resorts made it through this pandemic winter to the end without closing for health reasons. Kudos to everyone who made that happen!

Season Recap 2020/21
Updated 4 months ago Jason Cordeira
Jay Peak notched another foot of snow during our last event on 4/22-23, but otherwise the season is mostly a wrap. The 20/21 season will go down as underwhelming in my book, but there were a few bright spots of good skiing with a massive storm in December, some good snow from the middle of January through February, and decent spring skiing through March into April.

Final Forecast for 2020-2021
Updated 4 months ago Alan Smith
An active pattern across the Rockies continues to deliver late-season snow to the remaining ski areas that are open in Colorado. Later this week, a storm will bring high elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Rockies, and over the weekend, portions of the Northern U.S. Rockies (especially Montana) could see heavy snow.

The first major storm system and cold front of the fall season will impact the Western U.S. this weekend. Heavy rain will fall across Washington, Oregon, and Northern California from Friday through Sunday. Colder air arriving will result in high elevation snow across the Cascades (above 6k), and more widespread snow across the Northern Rockies on Sunday & Sunday Night.
