Weekend Thunderstorms for Montana & Wyoming East of the Divide

    12 hours ago Alan Smith

The pattern will change very little over the weekend with the jet stream situated across the Northern Rockies, while low-level moisture from the southeast will continue to fuel thunderstorms east of the Divide in Montana & Wyoming, with the potential for strong to severe storms. The Central Rockies will continue to dry out, while the PNW will see moisture & cooler temps arrive later next week.

Late-spring storms will occasionally bring chances for snow to Utah mountains as we close out April and begin May. We may still have chances for fresh snow days at resorts that remain open.

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    1 month ago Alan Smith

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

La Niña delivered as forecasted. Next Season will be deep somewhere! It is always deep on the Chase Powder Forecast. This post recaps the season for 24/25.
