The messy warm storm continues in the central Rockies and Sierra through Friday. The parent, low off the coast of the PNW, continues to spin waves into the region, with cold air trapped in the PNW and northern Rockies and warm, moist flow aimed at the Sierra. A cold front advances into the Sierra and central Rockies Friday with chase-worthy snow.

February has come in like a lion this year with strong storms, heavy snow (and rain), and sharp temperature differences across the West and the East. An active pattern is expected to continue for the foreseeable future with frequent storms from coast to coast.

Another very mild day on Tuesday. Light, high-elevation snow showers on Wednesday. Dry on Thursday and Friday. The best chance for accumulating snowfall arrives on Friday night. Chances for snow continue during the middle of February.

The warm and windy weather will continue on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with the windiest conditions likely on Wednesday and Friday. Then on Friday night, a fast-moving storm should bring 2-8 inches of snow to the northern and central mountains, with some powder likely for Saturday's first chair.
