There are three storms to watch. The initial phase hits the Sierra Thursday with moderate, decent-quality powder. The second surge of moisture brings in warmer, windier, and deeper snow for the Sierra on Saturday. The PNW and BC will grab heavy snowfall, favoring the north. Central Idaho, the Wasatch, and the Tetons should nab 5-11 inches this weekend, initially warm, followed by cooling.

Between now and the end of December, the overall weather pattern will NOT be favorable for significant storms. However, we'll be lucky enough to have multiple chances for weaker storms and at least light snow accumulations. This snow should fall on Friday afternoon, Sunday afternoon/night, and around next Wednesday, December 18.

Mild and increasing clouds on Thursday. Quick refresh on Friday. Sunny on Saturday. Another refresh with upside potential on Sunday. Maybe another storm around Wednesday, December 18 ahead of a mostly dry pattern as we get closer to Christmas.

The West will see some welcome snow late this week and into the weekend after a drier start to December. A weak storm will move through on Thursday followed by a stronger storm Friday-Sunday. The Sierra (including Tahoe), Cascades, BC, and Northern Rockies will be favored for the deepest snow totals. The East will see rain & some snow Wed-Thu & again early next week with a warmer airmass in place.
