A trough-dominant pattern will set up over the Northwest this week, and downstream of this feature, a warm and unstable airmass will support an uptick in thunderstorm coverage & intensity over the Northern Rockies with Wed & Thu shaping up to be the most active days. The Southern Rockies (CO/NM) will continue to see t-storms early/mid week with coverage trending downward late in the week.

Well..... it's finally here. The most unfortunate time of year with no snow and no prospects of any snow in the future. These days, I catch up on housework, travel a lot, and sneak a peek at the models once a month. The extended Euro model was just released, and the latest ENSO forecast is interesting. Let's dig in because what else is there to do this time of year?!

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

This will be my final chase powder post for the 24/25 season. It has been an epic season in many areas, including northern Vermont and many northern/Central Rockies, Sierra, and Alaska spots.
