A deep trough in the Gulf of Alaska will spin down the BC coast, and then inland drawing sub-tropical moisture, aka an Atmosphere River, into the Rockies. Snow levels begin to rise Tues, up to 2600m across the South Rockies, but generally staying around 2000m for the SkiBig3 resorts. A cold front arrives Weds PM normalizing snow levels with another batch of snow lasting into Thurs.

There are 3 systems to watch. The first will come into the PNW as early as Tuesday night dragging some light snow into the Rockies and even the northern Sierra by Thursday The 2nd system will increase snowfall totals in the PNW Thursday providing the Rockies and perhaps the Sierra better odds. Deeper snow hits the PNW Saturday/Sunday with colder temps. There are chases!

A storm impacted New England early this week with Jay Peak receiving 16 inches of new snow. Ski season is off to a fantastic start in this region! The Northwest saw a transition from snow to heavy rain early this week, but colder air is on the way with several shots of snow ahead. The Rockies will also see some snow late this week.
