The last 48 hours have brought some welcomed snowfall to most resorts across the Alberta Rockies. A list of storm totals is below. For Saturday, periods of snow will continue at all the resorts, adding light to moderate accumulations through Saturday night. An Arctic airmass invades out of the NE on Sunday, drying the skies and bringing frigid temps across the region. Very cold and dry next week.

Hold on tight! Waves of moisture continue in the west, with up to 14 inches thus far in northern Washington and areas near Bachelor. Several feet expected for the Sierra, Tetons, and the north Wasatch Range. Pacific Northwest grabs 1,000-foot snow levels. The central or southern Rockies skyrocket to 8-9,000 feet (Rain at lower elevations). Colder air is noted north. The Sierra grabs 50 up top.

Heavy snow is coming to much of the West as a slow-moving trough of low pressure will set up just off the Pacific Coast for the better part of a week. There are forecast challenges, however, in terms of moisture and temperature on the southern fringe of the storm track from Tahoe to Utah. The Northwest will see colder temps & deep snow totals. In the East, New England will see several storms.
