Late May to Early June Dry Spell

    1 day ago Alan Smith

The weather pattern has dried out significantly over the past couple of weeks following a stretch of wet weather in mid-May. Cooler temps have arrived for the time being, but we will warm up again heading into the weekend. Next week, rain and thunderstorm chances look higher as a trough sets up to our west, allowing moisture & energy to track across the Northern Rockies.

Tropical Moisture Lingers over the Southwest

    2 days ago Alan Smith

Moisture from a tropical storm in the Eastern Pacific has contributed to rain and thunderstorms across the Southwest and Southern Rockies over the past few days. This pattern will continue on Wed-Thu with strong t-storms, heavy rain, and localized flash flooding possible. A gradual warming & drying trend will occur this weekend, with a heatwave expected to take hold over the Pacific Northwest.

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    1 month ago Alan Smith

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.
