The warm temps over the west will slowly cool as the week progresses, with some weak waves of snowfall hitting the PNW and BC. Snow levels from 6500 Thursday fall to near 3500-4,000 to close out the week. A significant storm will overspread the west from Sunday night to mid-next week. Some spots in the Sierra could see 50-plus inches of powder.
One more day of near-record high temps across the MT Rockies on Thurs. A Pacific storm system then spreads cooler temps and unsettled skies with rounds of light snow from Thu PM through Sat PM. The SW and Central mountains are best positioned to see around 4 – 8” add up by Sun AM. Mainly dry on Sun, then another series of weak storms bring back chances of daily accumulations all next week.
A couple of nice days of spring in the West will turn to a stormy pattern with several rounds of snow through next week. Cold northwest flow will bring good powder conditions through many Western U.S. states. In the East, active storms will take a northerly track and bring rain, confining cold air and snow to the northern tiers.
Thanks for reading this summer! For the rest of this week, a cold front moving across the Central Rockies will bring showers & t-storms to WY, CO, & NM Wed-Thu while the West Coast states will see a late-season heat wave. Next week, isolated to scattered showers & t-storms develop across the West with continued mild temps. Heading into mid-month, the PNW will trend wetter and cooler.
