This is the last weekend for resort skiing and riding in Washington. Sunday, May 25th, is Crystal's final day for the 24/25 season. A frontal system will move into the northwest this weekend, but it should hold off long enough for a dry and pleasant weekend.

Abundant moisture originating in the Gulf of Mexico will reach the easternmost ranges of the Rockies this weekend, resulting in a good chance of showers and thunderstorms each day from Sat to Mon with heavy rain possible. West of the Divide, scattered afternoon thunderstorms can also be expected. A system will also bring showers & thunderstorms to the Northwest on Sun & Mon.

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

This will be my final chase powder post for the 24/25 season. It has been an epic season in many areas, including northern Vermont and many northern/Central Rockies, Sierra, and Alaska spots.
