Warm and dry conditions will continue across the Western U.S., while an active storm track will bring rain and snow to Western Canada and Alaska, including heavy snow above 2,500 feet in Alaska. A chilly airmass will also be in place over the Northeast and the higher peaks of the Whites and Adirondacks will get dusted with snow on Thursday and again early next week.

Foliage is popping in the Rockies! Colors are changing very quickly. The OpenSnow new "Fall Colors" map and our official chase forecaster "Powderchaser Steve" hits the road to verify the best places to see brilliant colors. In some cases this chase could last several weeks.

Today's post will mostly be as an early season test, and to let you know that hope is in sight for cooler temps and some rain. I will do another post later in October with some seasonal forecasts.
