Monsoon Favors CO & NM, Rain Chances for the Northwest Early Next Week

    9 hours ago Alan Smith

A consistent monsoon pattern will settle in across Colorado, New Mexico, & Eastern Arizona this weekend & next week, while Northern Arizona & Utah will see a trend toward drier air & fewer t-storms heading into next week. A low pressure trough will also track across the Northwest Mon-Tue with showers & t-storms expected, some of which will produce heavy downpours.

Thunderstorms Expected on Friday & Saturday

    18 hours ago Alan Smith

Monsoonal moisture will arrive from the south on Friday, resulting in a good chance of afternoon & evening t-storms with a slight chance persisting overnight & into Sat AM. Additional storms are possible during the day Sat, then a break is expected Sun in the Tetons (Yellowstone could still see a storm). Next week's pattern is tricky, but for now expect daily t-storm chances from about July 21-24.

Final Post of the 2024-2025 Season

    2 months ago Alan Smith

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

La Niña delivered as forecasted. Next Season will be deep somewhere! It is always deep on the Chase Powder Forecast. This post recaps the season for 24/25.
