An early season surge of monsoon moisture will result in numerous thunderstorms and flash flooding potential across New Mexico on Tue & Wed. Colorado & Eastern Wyoming will also see an uptick in showers & t-storms, especially on Tue with stronger storms capable of large hail & damaging winds. Later in the week, CO will see a reduction in storms while New Mexico will continue to be favored.

It's April 30th, and the last post of the 2024-25 season. I'll give some final season snowfall and precipitation stats, and we'll look forward to next season, which will start during the fall of 2025. My 20th season forecasting for the Sierra!

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.
