High pressure near the West Coast will continue to block storms for another week. The pattern starts to shift by the 25th with a couple of storms possible during the last week of January. The pattern could become more active into February.

The big story this weekend will be arctic air overspreading much of the Lower 48. The large-scale pattern will continue to favor drier conditions across the West with only some light snow for the Rockies, while the East will be more active. Two storms will move across the East over the next 3 days, while the South could see snow next week. The Great Lakes will also see consistent snow showers.

The coldest air of the season will be knocking on the Rockies by later Friday through Monday. Snow amounts stay light to moderate, with a few spots near Boulder or the Divide north of I-70 on watch. The extended offers some hope.
