The messy warm storm continues in the central Rockies and Sierra through Friday. The parent, low off the coast of the PNW, continues to spin waves into the region, with cold air trapped in the PNW and northern Rockies and warm, moist flow aimed at the Sierra. A cold front advances into the Sierra and central Rockies Friday with chase-worthy snow.

February has come in like a lion this year with strong storms, heavy snow (and rain), and sharp temperature differences across the West and the East. An active pattern is expected to continue for the foreseeable future with frequent storms from coast to coast.

A low-pressure system over the West Coast will bring off and on snow showers for the next week. Heading into the latter part of the second week of the month, we will see a familiar battle take place. Will the trough over the central/western US set up far enough west for Washington to get a strong storm or just a glancing blow?

For the rest of this week, a cold front moving across the Central Rockies will bring showers & t-storms to WY, CO, & NM Wed-Thu while the West Coast states will see a late-season heat wave. Next week, isolated to scattered showers & t-storms develop across the West with continued mild temps. Heading into mid-month, the PNW will trend wetter and cooler.
