Two large and slow-moving low-pressure systems will impact the West over the next 7 days, bringing significant low-elevation rain and high-elevation snow to many areas, along with cooler than average temperatures. The Central & Northern Rockies are favored for the heaviest rain and snow totals. A gradual warming & drying trend is expected heading into late May.

It's the last post of the 2024-25 season. I'll give some final season snowfall stats and provide a little insight as to why our winter panned out the way it did. Looking forward to my next season forecasting for you all in the fall of 2025!

Mostly sunny and warm days are in store for us through Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, the winds pick up and will stay strong through Monday. A trough pushes into the region late in the weekend and into early next week. It will bring much cooler temps and another chance for snowfall next Tuesday. The rest of next week will be Spring-like with moderate temps and limited precip chances.

It's April 30th, and the last post of the 2024-25 season. I'll give some final season snowfall and precipitation stats, and we'll look forward to next season, which will start during the fall of 2025. My 20th season forecasting for the Sierra!

The winter of 2024-2025 featured near to above average snowfall across the Sierra, Central/Northern Rockies, and much of the East. Snowpack is currently melting at a faster rate than usual across much of the West due to warmer and drier conditions so far in April. Looking ahead, a storm will bring high-elevation snow showers to the Sierra & the Rockies from late this week through early next week.

This will be my final chase powder post for the 24/25 season. It has been an epic season in many areas, including northern Vermont and many northern/Central Rockies, Sierra, and Alaska spots.
