Spring will continue on Wednesday with an unusually high severe weather threat with hail, winds, and even a small chance of a tornado. This storm will bring rain and high snow levels Wednesday night, but will bring colder air and lower snow levels at 5-6k on Thursday and down to 4-5k on Friday. This storm will have an AR that will impact Thursday PM to Friday AM with wet snow above 5k.
Unseasonably warm conditions exist in the west. Later this week, a cold front will move into the PNW and Sierra, bringing some snowfall back. Interior BC might be chaseable as well. Cold air tracks from the Sierra to the northern Rockies over the weekend while it stays warmer in the central and southern regions. Snow will return to the west with the colder air. The extended forecast might be deep!
A couple of nice days of spring in the West will turn to a stormy pattern with several rounds of snow through next week. Cold northwest flow will bring good powder conditions through many Western U.S. states. In the East, active storms will take a northerly track and bring rain, confining cold air and snow to the northern tiers.
Thanks for reading this summer! For the rest of this week, a cold front moving across the Central Rockies will bring showers & t-storms to WY, CO, & NM Wed-Thu while the West Coast states will see a late-season heat wave. Next week, isolated to scattered showers & t-storms develop across the West with continued mild temps. Heading into mid-month, the PNW will trend wetter and cooler.
