Record snowfall numbers are coming in for many areas of the Southeast, where up to 10 inches fell in New Orleans! This surpassed previous records from 1895. This weekend, an unorganized system is headed for the eastern Rockies, skirting south over much of Colorado by Saturday. A stronger system is possible for the four corners by Monday. The southern Sierra also stands a chance.

Tuesday offered a brief warm-up, and Wednesday and Thursday will be colder with snow showers. Looking ahead to the weekend, a storm will cut off from the main flow of weather and stall to the southwest of Colorado, and there is still high uncertainty about if/when/where snow will fall. But since it's a weekend, and we've been on the weekend storm train, it'll probably snow:-)

Arctic air has overspread most of the country early this week with cold and dry conditions for many areas while the Great Lakes have seen lake effect snow. The Gulf Coast also saw record snowfall on Tuesday! A relatively weak storm will move into the West late this week and over the weekend with snow expected for parts of the Rockies, California, and Southwest.

For the rest of this week, a cold front moving across the Central Rockies will bring showers & t-storms to WY, CO, & NM Wed-Thu while the West Coast states will see a late-season heat wave. Next week, isolated to scattered showers & t-storms develop across the West with continued mild temps. Heading into mid-month, the PNW will trend wetter and cooler.
